I find it fascinating that the new street network developed during the renaissance and baroque period connected the early Christian topography of the city to the ancient roman topography.  It is particularly interesting that Pope Sixtus V moved Obelisks and other monuments to reinforce this connection and make axial relationships between the nodes of the city. While looking at the plan for the Campidoglio and view out across the city, I noticed that there is a clear relationship
